An iconic work that propelled David Bailey's career and stands as the greatest photographic representation of the Swinging Sixties.

This seminal collection of portraits by Bailey, printed in 1965, is the most iconic representation of the Swinging Sixties. The subjects, the most famous faces of the time, range from The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Royalty, aristocrats on to film stars, The Kray Twins and many more.

This remains the sole printing; Lord Snowdon's objection to the inclusion of the notorious Kray twins portrait has been cited as the reason that no second or American edition was produced making it an incredibly rare set.

Exceptionally well preserved and in entirely original condition with the often discarded original piece of corrugated cardboard, inserted on issue as packaging. Housed in a bespoke slipcase.

First edition, sole printing, thirty six half-tone prints, contained in the original cardboard box. With biographical details of each sitter printed on the reverse of each print and original corrugated card ink stamped "Packing Piece/To be Thrown Away.". An excellent example of a sought after work.

Published by Weidenfeld and Nicolson, London, 1965.

Oliver sold a book for me recently and the process couldn’t have gone more smoothly. Bayliss rare books are great to deal with and thanks to Oliver’s experience and salesmanship I was very happy with the final deal.
Highly professional service, extremely knowledgeable and easy to deal with, he's a collector first and foremost and you can see he cares.
Repeat customer. I've bought 4 books now from Oliver. Extremely knowledgeable in his field, he always has really interesting pieces in stock. He has hand delivered 2 of the books I have bought and sent the other 2 out by post. Would highly recommend.
